The Smolyn peat factory was founded on December 31, 1983 at partially meliorated bog typical for Northern part of Ukraine. The idea of factory was produced by local population and till now it still remain in communal property thus given jobs for local people and providing other social benefits for community in quite economically depressive region of Ukraine.
